The appearance of Bang on a Can All-Stars is part of the MIT-Bang on a Can residency curated by Kenan Sahin Distinguished Professor Evan Ziporyn of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Music and Theater Arts (MTA) section. This event is being produced by the Music and Theater Arts section including the Concerts Office with support from the School of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences and MIT's Office of the Arts. This concert is a featured event in MIT's Office of the Arts's Visiting Artists program.
Founded in 1992 by Bang on a Can co-founders Michael Gordon, David Lang and Julia Wolfe, the Bang on a Can All-Stars quickly forged a distinct identity and have come to be known worldwide for their ultra-dynamic live performances and recordings of today’s most innovative music. Freely crossing the boundaries between classical, jazz, rock, world and experimental music, this six-member amplified ensemble from New York defies categories, plays music from uncharted territories, and has shattered the definition of what concert music is today.
